buildings in downtown phoenixThe state of Arizona is regularly featured in Top Ten lists for popularity and growth. It’s long been a draw for snowbirds and vacationers because of its gorgeous weather and relaxing amenities. But some areas are drawing more residents for reasons other than the stunning golf courses and spas, and the Phoenix area is one of them.

Our 13 locations in and around the Phoenix metro are hopping with transplants to the area who are making use of our rental storage units to make their move easier. Here are some of the reasons we are seeing so many new Phoenix residents at our storage unit facilities:

Work

Phoenix is already either the 5th or 6th largest city in the nation, depending on which research you encounter. And, a recent study ranked the area in the top 10 for fastest growing in the nation. Residential builders are challenged to keep up with the growth in the area, and commercial builders are putting up business centers and offices for every industry left and right.

This is largely because tech companies are giving tourism a run for its money when it comes to the economy in Phoenix. This part of the country is projected to place #2 in the country for IT jobs and #4 in STEM jobs in the next decade. Phoenix is also actively welcoming corporate headquarters to the area and recruiting for skilled workers.

Learn

There are a multitude of learning locations in the Phoenix area, and students are in abundance. It is home to Arizona State University, with the primary location in Tempe and two additional campuses in Phoenix proper: ASU West and ASU Downtown. ASU also has a satellite campus for Flagstaff’s Northern Arizona University.

Other institutions of higher learning abound as well, such as the Barrow Neurological Institute, Arizona Summit School of Law, Grand Canyon University, and Arizona Christian University. Then there is The Maricopa County Community College, which is a system of ten community colleges in the area. And, of course, Phoenix is the headquarters for the online learning giant The University of Phoenix.

Eat

In recent years, gifted chefs have brought this to the world’s attention as well. One such chef, Silvana Salcido Esparza, is the owner of the famous Barrio Café and its sister locations. She not only contributes to the area’s vibrant foodie culture but also strives as an activist and teacher to share the delights of Mexican cuisine with others around the world.

However, the area’s growth has encouraged fine dining of every tradition from renowned local chefs. Chris Bianco’s Pizzeria Bianco has been named the best pizza in the world by everyone from Bon Appetit to Rachael Ray, and Food Network’s Beau MacMillan attracts travelers from all over to Elements restaurant at the Sanctuary Resort.

Play

With over 200 days of sunshine a year, you can bet Phoenix has some great things to do outside.

Famous water parks, such as Wet ‘n’ Wild, Big Surf, and Sunsplash all offer the splashiest of adventures for students and families. Then there are the sports! Professional teams include the Cardinals (football) and Diamondbacks (baseball), but you can also enjoy the Assassins (women’s football) and the Phoenix rising (soccer) games outside. Indoor, you can see other pro teams, such as the Arizona Coyotes (ice hockey), the Phoenix Suns (men’s basketball), and Phoenix Mercury (women’s basketball), as well as the Rattlers (indoor football) and Scorpions (basketball).

The Phoenix area is full of cultural and artistic experiences too. It is home to Ballet Arizona, the Arizona Opera, and the Scottsdale Philharmonic. Stage performances are a hit, especially the bigger ones by the Arizona Theatre Company or the Arizona Broadway Theatre. Visual artists flock to Phoenix to see the The Calle 16 Mural Project downtown, and the arts district, called Roosevelt Row (RoRo), is home to many events throughout the year. As you might expect, Phoenix is full of art and history museums, but for a unique experience, at a museum that is the largest of its kind, you can immerse yourself in the music of the world at the Musical Instrument Museum.

Moving to Phoenix? Let us Help with Storage Units!

Glendale Bargain Storage IIThe moving process is widely known to be one of the more nerve-wracking of life events. We cannot stress enough how helpful storage unit facilities can be during a move. When moving from one city to another, some of our customers will get rental storage units in each town. This gives them the time and space they need on either end of the endeavor to sort through belongings and keep them safely out the way through the process at either end.

Others prefer a storage center for only one part of the process, either the packing or unpacking. During the packing phase, they are especially helpful if you have a lot of sorting to do. Items to donate or sell and the packed belongings being moved can be stored out of the way securely as you make your way through the rooms. Others prefer to have rental storage units in the landing locations, so that things can be unpacked leisurely and heavy boxes can be handled only once, rather than having to be re-stacked constantly throughout the unpacking process.

Find a Bargain Storage location near you, and give us a call to find out how we can ease your transition to your new home in the Phoenix area.
